Park Update! New Snow, New Park!
Last week’s storm not only gave us some amazing pow days and unreal conditions, it gave park staff the most necessary tool to do what they do best; build parks. They began the transformation the last couple of nights and it is really starting to shape up nicely. Starting at the top of chair 9, the shotgun rail is back in and the jump right below it has been reshaped. It’s about 20 feet long and rumor has it they are going to add some snow and make it bigger. Cruise on down to Powder Bowl and find some crazy, new, innovative features. The hip and jump are still there but they have been reshaped to near perfection. Following these two features is a contraption that is almost too intense to explain (peep the photo below). It’s a part half pipe, part bowl, part hip/transfer, and part quarter pipe. It will take some real creative thinking when dropping into this thing. I am very anxious to see what is in store for this feature! Drop out of Powder Bowl, mosey your way down to Lower Park Run, and you’ll see that Gambler has a new lip. This one is a little bit mellower with better projection. As soon as you stomp your moves on Gambler, you will shoot out into the triple jump line, which is looking proper. They redid them for the Free Flow Tour last weekend and they are better than I’ve ever seen them. They are a little bit bigger so make sure you keep your speed. Now that we took the tour of Chair 9, jump on Chair 5 to see a complete transformation in Central Park. We’re looking at a new triple line, all about 20 feet. There is a new 30 ft press box, followed by two smaller jumps. Following all the jumps is a new 16 x 24-wall ride that is sure to get the crowd going. We’ve been having a lot of fun riding the new set-up the last couple of days. Change is always good and I know that everyone is going to be stoked on this redo.
Many of you may know this, while others, I’m sure have no idea, Bear mountain is affiliated with the Snow Park Technologies organization. SPT is the industries leader in terrain park development. Every year we do a survey that lets us know what you think of our park. We would love to hear from all our awesome fans on this one.
