Chuck Allen Memorial
Yesterday afternoon, Bear Mountain and USASA paid tribute to a recently passed snowboard/surf industry legend. Chuck Allen, local boy Devin Allen’s Grandpa, had a huge impact on competitive snowboarding, especially so in Southern California. He founded USASA (United States Amateur Snowboard Association), the San Gabriel series and the So Cal series, and he co-founded the NSSA (National Scholastic Surfing Association). Many snowboarders and surfers make these associations their lives and use them to jump start careers, and all thanks is owed to Chuck Allen. To pay proper tribute, Bear Mountain friends and USASA members took a memorial, last chair lap on Chair 5 yesterday afternoon; it may have been his lap, but he will never be forgotten. Thank you Chuck Allen, you will be missed.
