Grenade Games 7 is in the Bag
It was quite a couple of days here at Bear Mountain. From the moment the Grenade Army pulled into town you knew it was on. We kicked off Grenade Games 7 yesterday with the Great Divide Gap Jump contest which was won by Bear Mountain’s own Evan Heckman who killed the large channel gap jump. From there it was on to the Mini Pipe Spine contest which saw some sick skate lines being thrown down by all the riders. The Mini Pipe Spine contest went to Canada’s Dustin Craven. He also took home the Most Radical Dude Award for his antics on and off the hill like partying in a Panda suit for two nights in a row. Then came The Chinese Eye Downhill. It was utter chaos with 50+ riders straight lining the brutal mogul course. But Lance Gavigan survived the carnage and made it to the top of the Monster Energy podium first to claim Chinese Eye Downhill Champion. The night ended with The Game showing up fashionably late to close out the first day of Grenade Games 7.
Day two we stepped it up a notch and went straight into The Monster Most Boned contest. Everyone was sending it and boning out everything they could but the radical Canadian Dustin Craven came out with the win with an one extremely boned out one-footer. Then came the final event of Grenade Games 7, The Dual Jib Slalom Race. After many head to head races and a few swims in the pond skim the final was set; Evan Heckman faced Tom Kelly for Dual Jib Slalom Champion and once again Evan Heckman showed the people he was here to win with a convincing victory. Danny and The Dingo had some other special awards to give out besides the contest winners. We had Mike Brokeoff with the Skullcandy Most Rock and Roll Award for a backside rodeo over The Great Divide Jump. Most Slushied went to Harvey Hawkins who impressed Danny with his slush-tastic riding. Bear Mountain’s own Chris Bradshaw took the Eyes Wide Open Award and The Chucky Award went The Gooner himself Lucas Magoon. Yahoo’s Top Taco Award went to Louie Vito and Eddie Wall brought home The New Era Caps Off Award which he sealed with his run down the Dual Jib Slalom in a cop suit capped with dive into the pond skim. And last but not least the Nike Althlete of the Games Award went to the man, the myth, the legend, Bobby Meeks.
We want to thank all the sponsors, Grenade, Nike, New Era, Skull Candy, GNU and Monster Energy. Grenade Games 7 was an epic blur and it’s hard to believe it’s already over. Thanks to all the riders that showed up and really helped make Grenade Games 7 the event of the year.
