January is a great time to learn to ski or snowboard, and with the largest beginner area in SoCal, Bear Mountain is the place to do it! In partnership with the National Ski Areas Association (NSAA), Bear Mountain is offering FREE rentals during the month of January to first time beginners ages 8 and older who purchase a beginner lesson package. Congratulations to Team riders Dylan Alito and Brandon Hobush for making it to Winter X Games Street! Extra props to Alito for his first Winter X Silver Medal! The sun is out this morning and skies are clearing. There is still a chance of some scattered showers and snow levels are forecast to drop so we could see a little fresh snow Sunday and Monday. Our park is still on point. We have down bars for days up top and our jump lines are still fun and poppy! If you haven’t been to Bear Mountain in the last few days you are in for some exciting surprises! Park Staff has built things up making what feels like a whole new park! The top rail is set higher and the top jump is shaped nicely. Just below we havethe long time favorite TEX Rail and the all new High Cascade Donkey Rail. A new Quarter-Hip and a tall Double Barrel Shotgun Rail. The Hot Dog Tube is after the rollers plus a skate style snowbank above the Dog House that has all sorts of possibilities!
Yes, there are now TWO jumps at the bottom of park run that are big, floaty, and fun! This cooler weather has provided excellent conditions and allowed us to do some serious snowmaking all week! More snow means more features! Top rail has been reset to a nice tall position again making a sweet double rail line with TEX. Chair 5 has some really fun intermediate features including some smaller jumps, jibs, hips, and both halfpipes!
