Arbor Team Shoot In Ego Trip

The Arbor Snowboard team just wrapped up a photo and film shoot at Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. They spent much of their time shooting in the Ego Trip Super Park at Snow Summit. Don’t miss your chance to shred the park the pros are riding. Look for a special edition Parkisode #8 featuring Arbor team riders Danny Thomas, Joe Bosler, Patrick Reddy, Moss Halladay, Andrew “Tres” Green, and Forrest Schmidt coming your way in the next few days. Bear has called it a season but we still have Summit this weekend! I know how you all feel about Bear though. Bear is like a second home to me and I know there are a lot of local riders, loyal weekend riders, employees, and fans that practically live at the mountain as well. It’s like a haven from reality; a place where we can forget about everything and focus on the most important things in life, like happiness. I’ll never forget my years as a snowboarder and I’m really happy that Bear Mtn and everyone that makes it what it is will be a part of all my memories. The snow, the good times, the new friends, and the one of a kind snowboarding, all thanks to our friend Bear Mtn. All in all, it was an amazing season and on behalf of the mountain… thanks! Thanks to everyone for making this all possible!

With 100% of the mountain still wide open, in addition to the 4-5 inches of fresh fluffy pow Big Bear received on monday, the time is NOW to come up and discover the goods at Snow Summit. Whatever your preference may be, you might be surprised that Snow Summit delivers on all fronts.

For your park rats, Westridge has it all. The jibs, the jumps, and everything in between. Or go check out the Ego Trip Superpark. Huge features meticulously maintained for your shredding pleasure. If you are a Geronimo fan, look no further than Snow Summit’s chair 6 and black diamond runs: The Wall, Olympic, and Off chute. Even if your preference is to just cruise, Snow Summit has 31 trails offering varied terrain and amazing views over the Big Bear Valley.

Bear Mountain Season Passes are valid at Snow Summit. The type of season pass still applies to the Snow Summit offer.

Bear Mountain’s operating hours for this Saturday and Sunday will be from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

HDHR Qualifier Results

We just wrapped up the HDHR qualifiers about an hour ago. We had a solid turnout of hungry shreds looking to make their way to Hot Dawgs in September. Last year’s winner and local kid Ian Sams showed back up and was able to walk away with third. All the way from the east coast, brothers Dylan and Alex Hereford, came, conquered, and walked away with 1st and 2nd. Dylan was the lucky one taking the gold and getting his free 2010/2011 Bear Mountain season pass. We’re definitely stoked on the three we’re sending to Hot Dawgs this fall; and look forward to seeing these kids represent.

Fun for the Weekend

As in typical Bear Mtn style, we’re planning for another fun-filled weekend on the mountain. It’s that time of year when we’re winding down the season and amping up the fun. Today, we have KCXX 103.9 rocking out on the deck all day long! We’ll be drinking and jamming up a storm; come grab a beer and join us! Tomorrow, well, you should already know about tomorrow or my job is pointless. For you space cadets out there, tomorrow is the HDHR qualifier contest on Conner McCracken’s scene from the “Design the Scene” contest. We’re going to be sending the three top shreds to the ever so coveted HDHR contest in September. If your entering the contest, make sure you’re there by 10 and check in at the boardroom. We’re going to have DJ Slipmatt, DJ C-Low, and KROQ loosening you all up and making you get down. Hate to have all this fun with out you; actually it won’t even be as fun with out you; don’t leave us hanging!

April Sun and Guaranteed Fun

Well, it’s April, and we’re still looking at the best spring conditions in years! It’s been a wild season, with a lot of snowfall. Today, we’re looking at a 50 degree day and bright blue skies, and it’s a lot of the same for the rest of the week. We’re enjoying a beautiful spring up here, but it just isn’t as fun without you! Come on up and join us for some April sun and guaranteed fun!

Best wishes to all our guests spending Easter with us today! We had a lot of fun with the kiddos at the Easter egg hunt this morning. You would never think that a plastic Easter egg had so much value, but try telling that to a five year old with a decorative basket and a grin from ear to ear. We love hosting events like this, but we love your enthusiasm even more. A lot of preparation goes into everything we do and it is all worth it when we get a crowd like you. Thank you to everyone who came out and spent their Easter morning with us. We had a lot of fun and we can’t wait to do it again next year!

Shout Out Parkstaff!

Here at Bear, we tend to through around props like hot cakes. Everyone is always getting love because we love our surrounding. We love our guests who make this all possible, we love our pro riders for adding some flavor to the mountain, and we love our staff for everything they do for this resort. There is one group that deserves a little extra attention. Bear arguably has the best park in the world, but what would it be with out our boys (and 2 girls) from parkstaff. This blog is dedicated to you parkstaff! You make this resort what it is and we’d be nowhere without you. These guys put in heavy hours to make our park as proper as it is and it is greatly appreciated. We definitely have to shout out Desi, Dan, and Clayton for masterminding this operation, and Kirk for his one-of-a-kind skills behind the rake. It’s been a great year boys, and we still got plenty of season left! Looking forward to seeing what you guys make of the rest of the season!

And if you see these guys riding or raking in their Analog outfits, say whats up… Let them know our appreciation!

The Scene

As you all know, last weekend was the Ashbury demo, and when we host events like these, we always spice up The Scene. Well, the set up is still up and it is getting a lot of action. The double down bar line seems to be the crowd favorite, getting love even after the lifts are closed. Both the rails are pretty small, but they’re entertaining for all levels of riding. They’re low enough for beginners to learn the basics and all you shred heads to do all the hardways. Tex is up as well, and more proper then ever. It’s nice and steep with no lip. We always hear comments about down bars, because everyone loves them. Well, here ya’ go! Down bar heaven in the Scene! Get out there and have some fun with them because we’ll be changing the set up to design Conner McCraken’s Scene for ”Design The Scene” contest and the Hot Dawgs qualifier around April 9th.
