Chance of Snow Today

  We’ve been making real snow all night and there’s a 30% chance that mother nature might bless us with more snow this afternoon. It’s gonna be a good week for the white stuff. CalTrans reports significant delays and closures on Highway 18, so plan your drive accordingly. Always carry snow chains when traveling through mountain areas. Like they say in Cub Scouts, “Always be prepared.” Ticket windows and rentals shops open at 8:30 am. Lift operations will starts at 9 am. The recent storm added to the base, making it 10-20″. SNOW!!!

The temperatures shifted and it has officially started to DUMP snow! With the forecast calling for “heavy” snow throughout the night we can say with confidence that this very well could be the biggest storm of the season! It may take a little extra time traveling to the mountains tonight but hopes are incredibly high that it will be more than worth it! Stay tuned for more updates!


Winter Weather on its Way?

**Snow Summit will be closed for today due to weather, Snow Summit plans to re-open tomorrow at 8:00 a.m. Bear Mountain is open today for normal business hours. “Winter Storm Watch in effect from February 28, 06:00 AM PST until March 2, 02:00 AM PST” – NOAA. Looks like a bit of winter is heading our way for today and tomorrow. Pack your chains for your vehicle as winter weather can change quickly. We Got Some Snow!

Not a ton, but we received  nearly two and a half inches of new snow! Also in the forecast are some cold temps which could mean perfect snowmaking weather. Keep those fingers crossed, winter is coming!


Storm System Rolling Through

Cold weather has hit Big Bear and we are taking full advantage of these great snowmaking conditions. Our system has been making snow for over 24 hours now and we plan to continue as long as conditions permit. Snowmaking plus the 3-4 inches of fresh snow we received yesterday means more runs and features!
