Snowmaking was on at Bear Mountain last night treating Park Run to a fresh layer of snow. The nights have been cold and dry and that helps maintain our surface giving you the best riding conditions in SoCal. Snowmakers pumped out about 5,500 GPM and if you know anything about the science behind making quality snow you’ll know that’s gooood stuff. Learn more HERE.

Westridge is open tonight and Saturday for Night Session at Snow Summit from 3-9:30pm. Westridge undergoes an evening groom during night session giving you the freshest terrain since first chair.

Happy weekend! Welcome to The People’s Park. We made snow all night long and the snow coverage is great. Today we are going to give you a high of 51 and blue skies; enjoy : )

Power 106 FM will be the fuel to your fire today, playing all your favorite hip hop tracks and getting you amped up for the day. Next time Power 106 comes back (February 11th), they will be bringing up Mac Miller!

We also have another night session tonight over at our sister mountain, Snow Summit. The session starts at 3pm and all season passes, including Bear Mountain Only passes, are good for all night sessions. View this Night Session Video.

Snow Conditions

Got snow? We do, and plenty of it! Despite the lack of snow in other California regions, Big Bear Mountain Resorts has been fortunate with snowmaking and early season snowfalls providing snow depths of 1-3 feet, very good snow coverage and nearly 100% open runs- that’s almost 438 rideable acres! Beat the heat and head up here to Bear where we have been making snow recent nights and the snow conditions are better than you might think. Enjoy the wide open runs and the most terrain park features in So Cal. Next night sessions at Snow Summit are this Friday and Saturday beginning at 3pm til 9:30pm

Dashing Through The Snow

… on a brand new snow board today, over the features we go, laughing all the way ha ha ha… We hope Santa brought everything on your wish list. Now let’s get to riding! The snow in Big Bear is the best around, both mountains are wide open, there are over 200 park features at both resorts and when the sun goes down you can head to Snow Summit for night session which lasts all the way through January 7th. Merry Christmas friends!

Terrain Park Update

We are on the path to possibly our best season of all time! The park is already starting to surpass our years past set-ups, and it’s only the beginning of December. There are jibs, jumps, rails, boxes and so much more spread across the entire mountain with something for everyone. You definitely have to try out the Skill Builder features over on Chair 6 where we have a bunch of beginner boxes, rollers and jumps that are perfect for anyone looking to learn the basics of freestyle snowboarding. For those of you who already have the basics, Chair 9 is overflowing with terrain features. This is our winter! while most resorts are struggling to get things going, we are thriving and expect to have nearly 100% of both resorts open by the weekend. Hope you got your season pass this year. Most Open Terrain in Southern California

What a great weekend so far! With our around-the-clock snowmaking and packed powder conditions, we’re looking forward to another great day in the People’s Park. Besides Park Run’s 35 jibs and 12 snow features, make sure to check out the new Jib Pipe on Chair 5 that opened yesterday. Chair 7 at Snow Summit opens today, bringing our total open lifts to 11, accessing the most open terrain in Southern California.

Make sure to bundle up! Today’s forecast is 36 and sunny. Have fun out there!

More Runs Open Today

Welcome to the best snow in Southern California! Our last storm left us with 14-16 inches of fresh snow and excellent snowmaking conditions. We got so much snow that we can open more runs today! Chair 5/Central Park and Chair 6 accessing Easy Street and Learning Curve for beginners are open today with amazing packed powder conditions. The Jib Pipe on Chair 5 is open and ready for jibbing! You will also find some changes on Chair 9/Park Run with many more to come over these next few days. It’s going to be a sunny SoCal day with a high of 29 and the cool temps will keep the snow powdery all day long. Don’t have too much fun today, we still have the entire season ahead of us ; )

14-16 Inches Of Fresh Powder

Yesterday’s storm sat over us all day yesterday and all night long too leaving a total of 14-16 inches of new snow! On top of all of that, we have been making snow around the clock. Both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit expect to open more runs for the weekend and more jibs installations are in the works. Come on up and enjoy the packed powder snow conditions.

Looks like your dancing worked. Bear Mountain has received about 6 inches of natural snow and this is just the beginning; even more snow is forecast today through Saturday. We had a great night of snowmaking and it’s expected to continue throughout the week. Today’s high is 35 degrees and we’ve got machine groomed packed powder on Park Run and Rips Run. Although high wind warnings are in effect, Big Bear is not typically affected as we are not in passes or canyons where the strongest winds occur.

Tomorrow, Tomorrow! It’s Only A Day Away…

Yep, Opening Day is tomorrow my friends! We can finally put the summer behind us and prepare ourselves for the best season our lives! We’re up here feeling like a bunch of little kids on Christmas Eve; just waiting for the clock to strike the A.M. It’s going to be hard to sleep tonight, but Park Staff sure won’t have that problem because they don’t get to sleep tonight. They will be up all night building features and setting jibs. Tomorrow, when you get here at 8:30, we will have a TOP to BOTTOM park waiting for you to shred.

It’s hard to believe because it came so quick, but tomorrow is the day! We look forward to seeing all your smiling faces again and we cannot wait to get you back in The People’s Park!
