While You Get Rain, We Get Snow

Looking up from the beach areas, you can’t see the mountains. It’s cloudy with scattered showers and people are driving like it’s a free-for-all. There are 16 million people in the LA area and on a moderate rainy day in December, over 3 million car accidents were reported. That is almost 1 in 5 people, 19% of the population crashed at the rate of 12 accidents per second. People are cray out there. Don’t be a statistic and head for the mountains because what you can’t see from the flatlands is the snow storm in the mountains. Lots of snow []

It Snowed All Day And Still Going

It’s been coming down since 9 am and it looks great up here. It looks like much of the same for Monday. This current storm will move along to be replaced by another system hitting our mountains by Monday night. Best case, glass is half full scenario, up to 2 feet of snow in some parts. More terrain, more open trails, more features than any other resort in SoCal and now more snow, Bear is definitely the place to be. It’s the place Boy Scouts of America (BSA) chose to have their Scout Day. BSA is one of the largest []

One, Two, and a Third Storm to Hit Our Mountains

It snowed a bit last night and it is coming down this morning. We are expecting more snow all day as the low pressure travels closer to our mountains. It looks like more snow showers on Monday with periodic breaks. After the two storm systems have left us snowed and done, we’ve heard a prediction of up to 2 feet of snow accumulation in some areas. Building our inventory of snow only helps to keep the season going. One storm after another, then another? KROQ storms the mountains with performances by The Orwells (toured with Arctic Monkeys) and The Offspring []

***WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY***

The main edge of the storm won’t arrive until tonight, but if you were here, you can see and feel the storm starting to build. Snow will continue on Sunday into the night, possibly several inches of snowfall expected. As this low pressure leaves the area on Monday, snow showers will still be around with periodic breaks. But as one storm leaves, another one is rolling in right behind it, like how Ricky Bobby would slingshot by staying close behind Cal in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby. We are all keeping a close watch on these winter storms. Expect 90% []

NWS Winter Storm Warning In Effect 4 pm Today Through 4 pm Monday

The Warning calls for periods of snow showers with locally heavy snowfall for the mountains above 5,000 feet. What does this mean? It means Winter is back…Big time! The storm that rolled through Monday dropped 9 inches of fresh snow and gave our snow makers several nights to make even more. The storm arriving today is taking a very similar track and will also allow our snow makers to do what they do best; ensure through hard work that you will find the best conditions for skiing and riding in Southern California on their trails. With this storm stalling over []
