Midweek Riding

Don’t dream all week long about “when I get to Bear” do it… today! Midweek is the best time to ride since the mountain is virtually empty; you get the the runs all to yourself and hardly have to wait in line at all. Today will be partly sunny and there’s a slight chance of light snowfall overnight, then clearing out tomorrow morning leaving us with another great day. Just throw your gear in the car and head on up. We’ll see on the hill. Be sure to check the Discounts and Specials web page before you leave for great ticket deals.

Olympic Fever

Shaun White not only won the 2010 Olympic Gold yesterday but did it pretty much in the first lap with the second being somewhat of a victory run! You’re probably pretty inspired by now, I know a lot of us are blown away by these incredible athletes. If you’re looking to get even better at a sport you’re already REALLY good at then Go With A Pro. The 1-hour Go With A Pro clinic is only $20 and the PSIA and AASI certified Instructors will help you fine tune your skills. Today is an awesome day to hit the slopes with sunny skies, temps in the 50’s, and excellent snow conditions.

There’s plenty of terrain available for everyone’s preference: The park is FUN with loads of beginner to advanced terrain park features; the steeps are groomed nightly for your carving pleasure; the mellow green and blue runs under chair 6 are perfect for those looking to cruise; and the deck is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat and do some sun bathing.

Big Bear woke to a light dusting of snow this morning, and it’s a good sign of more to come. Snow is forecasted today into tomorrow. Conditions are excellent right now with Machine Groomed Packed Powder. Big shout out to El Nino for giving the goods to Big Bear this year; powder days have been EPIC, and it’s only early February!

All three routes into Big Bear are OPEN. Hwy 330/18 from San Bernardino: chains are required on all vehicles except 4WD & AWD with snow tires. Hwy 38 from Redlands & Hwy 18 from the High Desert through Lucerne Valley are OPEN with no chain requirements.

Expect chain requirements with increased snowfall. All vehicles including 4 wheel drives should always carry chains when traveling to the mountains during winter months! Keep in mind road conditions are in a constant state of change.

Both Snow Summit And Bear Mountain currently have limited ticket availability. Same day reservations are not available.

All Roads Into Big Bear Are Open No Chain Requirements
Hwy 330/18 “the front way” through Running Springs will be congested this weekend. We strongly recommend using alternate routes Hwy 38 through Redlands or Highway 18 through the High Desert in Lucerne Valley. Expect travel delays.

With sooo much snow and no where to put it, we’re limited to just a couple lanes through town. We are working closely with State and local agencies however traffic will be slow going for travelers so please be patient, the skiing and boarding conditions are worth it.

All vehicles including four-wheel and all-wheel drives with snow tires must always carry chains when driving in the mountains during winter months.
