You have seen the pictures in magazines and on websites, you have seen the footage in edits and videos, but have you seen it in person? That’s right coverage of The Launch is usually not too hard to find, Snowboarder Magazine covers the whole thing and with so many top notch young athletes the shots end up everywhere. There is something really special about seeing it go down in person though. Some of the riders look so little riding up to the massive features that it doesn’t even look possible. Then they blast off and throw down a double cork like no big deal!
The build that our Park Staff put together for the event this year is truly jaw-dropping. Here is what Snowboarder Magazine had to say about the set up, “Bear provided multi-faceted components with tons of lines–serving both the level of riding and the riders’ attention spans–including a pole jam closeout to wallride feature and a large butterpad with gaps on and off and an additional close-out. Unique transition hits filled any extra space. Clayton is as economical as he is creative; no area of The Launch park is unused, providing a perfect playground for snowboarding’s elite youth.” Yes Clayton and the boys did what they do best and made one of the best and craziest setups ever! Big ups, and big thanks to Clayton, Park Staff, and everyone at Snowboarder Magazine.

SoCal’s only open ski resorts are Snow Summit and Bear Mountain. How are we the last ones standing? Thanks to our incredible top of the line snowmaking system a nearly inexhaustible water supply from Big Bear Lake, we are able to build up the deepest base during winter months, which then allows us to enjoy the snow into April. Our park is still stacked with hips, jumps, jibs, rollers, wall rides, logs and much more!
Don’t be bummed if you have a pass to another SoCal resort that is already closed. Bring it to Bear and we’ll give you 50% off a lift ticket! More details HERE.
Some may think we are running low on snow at this time of year. Wait till you see what Park Staff is building on Central Park! It is the set-up for Snowboarder Magazine’s “The Launch” and there is no shortage of snow over there. The massive jump has required tons of snow to build and the hip that almost touches the clouds is equally impressive! Come check it out all this week at Bear Mountain.
