The first day of War of Rails kicked off with some heavy snowfall and even heavier skiing. Competitors tackled the elements and went on with the contest as if it were a normal sunny day. The course is huge but speed was not an issue and every person in today’s qualifier went all out to try and lock themselves into tomorrow’s final.
At the end of the day Max Morrello took 3rd, Max Moffatt brought home the silver, and Joey Van Der Meer came up big with the win! Stay tuned for a rowdy final tomorrow and if you can’t make it be sure to watch the live stream at Freeskier.com/live.

We have received 8″ to 10″ of fresh snow over night and it’s still coming down! This is the best storm we’ve had all season.
It may take a little extra time traveling to the mountains today but it will be more than worth it! Don’t forget your tire chains, they are required on all vehicles except those with 4wd and awd with snow tires on highways 18 and 38. Highway 330/18 the front way is closed but plans to reopen this morning. Check CalTrans for the latest road information.
The worlds biggest ski rail jam starts today after a weather hold yesterday. Two jam sessions today will set up the first semi-final to see who goes on to tomorrow’s finals where the best of the best will throw down everything they have in hopes of taking home the cash purse. Seating is available on the deck and event drink specials will be served at the bar! Can’t make it here for the show? Watch it all from your couch with the WOR Live Stream available at freeskier.com and newschoolers.com.
