We’ve been experiencing a mixture of snow and rain today, with some flurries at the higher elevations. Today’s fast moving storm is forecast to move out this evening leaving us with a sunny day on the mountain tomorrow, and Monday is showing a chance for some snow. We’ve had a great year so far and we have a feeling the second half is going to be even better! Night Session is currently scheduled for Snow Summit tonight- weather and conditions permitting. Peak weekend lift ticket rates are in effect today and Sunday.

Hey all you park rats! Yes you! How’s the park been? Hope you like it. We’ve been hooking up features for all ability levels and all styles of riding; We have Powder Bowl for anyone looking to get weird with it. We have the Red Bull Plaza for anyone looking to get off the main run, hang out, and session some street like jibs. We have Park Run for anyone looking to go fast and hit as many features as possible. We have Chair 5 for anyone looking to get out of the mix and just ride some jumps. We have The Scene for those afternoon hike sessions by the bar. And last but not least, we have the Skill Builder Park designed for riders who are new to park riding but want to learn the trade.

It’s all fun and it’s all for you. Let us know what you think by taking our SPT Park Survey. Your opinion matters!

Today’s forecast is sunny and clear with a high of 46. We had a great night of snowmaking last night. Enjoy the shred!

We just got done with the Volcom PB and J and let’s count it as another successful contest. Kids came from all over to kill the set-up and make their mark. The little guys definitely made their presence. A few of them were barely waste tall but that didn’t stop them from charging features three times their size. That was fun to watch. The big guys killed it too. With dudes like Alex Heresford, Erik Leon, Jordan Smalls, Lenny Mazotti, and Devin Allen, the riders really had to work to get noticed. End of the day, they all made it happen and made us stoked to host this contest. You guys and gals are Bear Mountain.

Today is going to be a warm one with a high of 66. The forecast is showing some cooler temps at the end of the week, so enjoy this beautiful January day : ) The surface is machine groomed hard pack and the snow starts to soften around 10:30am. We currently have nearly 100% of runs open and our feature count is currently at 130 jibs and snow features spread across the resort. There are 64 jibs and 66 snow features. Enjoy!

Night sessions have been cancelled until tomorrow due to lack of participation. The good news is that ALL season passes including “Bear Only” and “Night Only” season passes will be accepted today and tomorrow for day session at both Snow Summit (8am- 5pm) and Bear Mountain (8am- 4:30pm).

Happy New Year friends! Another year is officially in the bag. It makes us a little sad to put those good times in the past, but it’s something we have to do to make room for the new memories to come.

2011 was an action packed year. We started this season off stronger than ever on November 9th with a top to bottom park for opening day. While most resorts were struggling to get a run open, we were thriving due to our state of the art snowmaking equipment. The snow guns got us going, and then Mother Nature set us off! We have more snow this early season than the rest of California, the Rockies, and the Pacific North West. This is Southern California we’re talking about; It’s crazy how the weather works, but it seems to be working in our favor!

Our early season next level park has also made us a hot spot for the industry’s top level riders. We’ve been hosting such names as Heiskari, Backstrom, Oksanen, LNP, Bozung, Alito, Kuzyk, Mathis, Lopiccolo, Bailey, Hobush, and Arnold, just to name a few. This was no fluke for Bear Mountain, this is how we roll! Bear is the place to be this 2011/2012 season and we hope you all get a piece of the action.

Yes, 2011 was a great year, but it was only a tease to what 2012 has in store for us. We have an action packed season with major events planned such as the Grenade Games, Trans Am, Ultimate Boarder, Volcom Peanut Butter and Rail Jam, and the Analog Go Huck Yourself series all returning for another year. The Neff Beach Bash and The Boxes for Days events are new to Bear Mountain this year. Transworld Snowboarding will also be putting out an exclusive “Park Sessions” video from Bear that is going to blow your snowboard socks off!

So stay tuned here for a full season of fun at The People’s Park. Whatever makes you happy when you’re in the mountains, whether its riding, lounging, socializing, exploring, or just all together making memories, we’re the place to do so, and we can guarantee that.

The mountain is in excellent shape. With so much snow to work with we’ve been able to set up nearly 150 features with jibs and jumps of every size. We have several different parks each unique from the other. The Skill Builder Parks on Chair 6 are for anyone looking to step into park riding. We have the Chair 5 park with the standard pipe and the superpipe is currently under construction. Chair 9 is the main park with features lined up down the entire run. Branching off of Park Run is the Red Bull Plaza. New to Bear Mountain this year, the Red Bull Plaza is a street inspired park with a heavy stack of rails, wall, and ledges. Tell us what you think here at the SPT Parks Survey.

Remember Snow Summit is open until 9:30 tonight through January 7th and all passes are accepted beginning at 3pm. Westridge gets a fresh evening groom during night session, giving riders the freshest terrain since first chair.

Superpipe coming up next!

With the free inter mountain shuttle, you get double the options for the price of just one ticket.

You also have to remember to save some energy for Snow Summit’s night sessions happening every night through January 7th. Westridge has a full park set-up with excellent machine groomed packed powder conditions. We have the best snow conditions this holiday; so step outside and experience the winter fun right in your backyard. This is why you live in Southern California, have some fun with it!

Although high wind warnings are in effect, Big Bear does not get the same intensity of winds since we are not in the passes or canyons where the strongest winds occur.

Good day to all! A couple inches of new snow greets us this morning and we have the best snow conditions around! An action packed weekend is ahead of us, and it starts now! Chair 8 accessing Geronimo opens up today, making the resort nearly 100% open. We also have been undergoing some serious park work; if you were here yesterday, you already saw the two picture perfect jumps on Lower Park Run and if not then you are in for a real treat : ) There are plenty of Skill Builder features scattered across the resort; so be sure to check out the entire mountain for fun stuff.

Night session at Snow Summit tonight and Saturday night and all season passes are accepted beginning at 3pm. Westridge opens up today, so you know tonight will be fun. Starting tomorrow, we introduce Bear Camp. This is for anyone looking for park instruction. If you already have the basics, but you want to learn the freestlye part of snowboarding, then Bear Camp is for you. Click here for details!

Switchfoot will be here tomorrow at 3pm on the deck and All Marbles will be jamming in the Board Room from 3-7pm.

Big news! We expect to have both the resorts nearly 100% open by….. tomorrow!! Yep, Geronimo will be waiting for you; we hope you can make it. We’ve also been undergoing nightly changes to the park including the Skill Builder Park, Central Park, and Park Run.

With the holiday season coming up and having So Cal’s best skiing and riding conditions, we recommend planning your trip and reserving your tickets online HERE. This is the year to be a So Cal snow ethusiast, so take advantage of it! We love taking pics and showing them off, but it’s the experience that we want to share; so come on up and have some fun, you earned this.
