Classic So-Cal Conditions

The classic So-Cal conditions continue! We’re in store for another great day of sun and blue skies. While much of the country is bundled to the britches, you all get to enjoy a high of 55 and plenty of good snow.

We don’t control the weather, so we can’t really take credit for it being so nice. However, we can take credit for giving you Southern California’s best park and Southern California’s only Super Pipe. With over 150 different features designed for all levels of riding, you won’t find a dull moment in The People’s Park. A new hip was added to Powder Bowl a couple days ago and other new features having being showing up on the regular. Whether it’s your first day up in Big Bear this winter or you’ve been riding everyday, we’re sure you will have some unforgettable fun today, and every time you come to Bear.

Sunday’s Outlook

Welcome back sun! Well, not for too long… The forecast is calling for sunny skies today, but we’re expecting snow tomorrow! We never know what is actually going to happen, but the National Weather Service is claiming a good chance of snow this Monday with several inches accumulation possible . Let’s not jinx it, but we’ll hope for the best!

As for today, mostly sunny with a high of 46. We were able to make snow last night so the surface should be pretty nice today, ranging from machine groomed hard pack to packed powder. Have fun out there!

Hey all you park rats! Yes you! How’s the park been? Hope you like it. We’ve been hooking up features for all ability levels and all styles of riding; We have Powder Bowl for anyone looking to get weird with it. We have the Red Bull Plaza for anyone looking to get off the main run, hang out, and session some street like jibs. We have Park Run for anyone looking to go fast and hit as many features as possible. We have Chair 5 for anyone looking to get out of the mix and just ride some jumps. We have The Scene for those afternoon hike sessions by the bar. And last but not least, we have the Skill Builder Park designed for riders who are new to park riding but want to learn the trade.

Today’s forecast is sunny and clear with a high of 46. We had a great night of snowmaking last night. Enjoy the shred!

Analog Design Unlikely Features

The Analog Design Unlikely Features contest is today! Registration starts at 8am in the Board Room and the comp will start around 10:30/11. This is a free contest; you just need your lift ticket or season pass. Be sure to check out Analog’s Mikkel Bang who came all the way out here to watch you guys shred the new feature.

Today is going to be sunny with a high of 55. When your not checking out the comp, be sure to check out the Superpipe; open as of yesterday. There are also a bunch of new changes to Park Run that you’ll see today while you’re out riding.

What’s New at The People’s Park

Text book Bear day today; bluebird! We’re at well over 100 features and new ones are popping up on the regular. The flow and vibe have been on point due to the mass options of lines. Everyone has their favorite feature but it’s linking them all together that makes this place fun. In a few days, we will have the Superpipe ready for you guys; so you can start looking forward to that.

The Analog Design Unlikely Feature contest is this Saturday where we will reveal the winning feature and have a jam on all three Design Unlikely Features. This contest is free to all riders with a 2011-12 season pass or lift ticket. Registration is from 8am to 10pm and the contest starts around 10:30/11:00. You definitely want to come shred this new feature. It’s the best Design Unlikely Feature to date!

It’s going to be a great one today! We’re looking at sunny skies and a high of 43. This keeps the snow cold and nice, but also gives us that So Cal sun vibe. We hope everyone is stoked on the park. The jumps have been popping up like crazy, and it’s only the beginning.

Good day to all! A couple inches of new snow greets us this morning and we have the best snow conditions around! An action packed weekend is ahead of us, and it starts now! Chair 8 accessing Geronimo opens up today, making the resort nearly 100% open. We also have been undergoing some serious park work; if you were here yesterday, you already saw the two picture perfect jumps on Lower Park Run and if not then you are in for a real treat : ) There are plenty of Skill Builder features scattered across the resort; so be sure to check out the entire mountain for fun stuff.

Night session at Snow Summit tonight and Saturday night and all season passes are accepted beginning at 3pm. Westridge opens up today, so you know tonight will be fun. Starting tomorrow, we introduce Bear Camp. This is for anyone looking for park instruction. If you already have the basics, but you want to learn the freestlye part of snowboarding, then Bear Camp is for you. Click here for details!

Switchfoot will be here tomorrow at 3pm on the deck and All Marbles will be jamming in the Board Room from 3-7pm.

Oksanen, Backstrom, Arnold, Carr, Bradshaw, Rosenthal, and Gordon

Bear Mountain seems to be the place to be this season. We arguably have the best snow in California and our park is stacked like it’s already mid-season. The Salomon team rolled up in their team RV early this morning with Scotty Arnold, Chris Carr, Harrison Gordon, and a couple of their ams. They have been out trying to tackle the whole mountain, but it’s been tough because there are just too many lines to take. Bradshaw has been doing work in the Red Bull Plaza. This is his new favorite zone. We also had Cody Rosenthal role up with the Transworld crew. Cody has some serious style. We can’t forget about OG legend Jussi Oksanen and Iikka Backstrom. You can find these guys sending anything there is to send. Jussi is a machine and it is a honor to watch him ride.

Terrain Park Update

We are on the path to possibly our best season of all time! The park is already starting to surpass our years past set-ups, and it’s only the beginning of December. There are jibs, jumps, rails, boxes and so much more spread across the entire mountain with something for everyone. You definitely have to try out the Skill Builder features over on Chair 6 where we have a bunch of beginner boxes, rollers and jumps that are perfect for anyone looking to learn the basics of freestyle snowboarding. For those of you who already have the basics, Chair 9 is overflowing with terrain features. This is our winter! while most resorts are struggling to get things going, we are thriving and expect to have nearly 100% of both resorts open by the weekend. Hope you got your season pass this year. If You’re Not Here, You’re Missing Out

We have lots going on right now. As you know, the Red Bull Plaza is up and running with 13 jibs that could be hit hundreds of different ways. There’s been crews up there hiking and getting stuff done all weekend. Chris Bradshaw and friends can be spotted there at almost anytime. We also have the Scene set up and waiting for you, and there is something in there for everyone. Beginner or expert, you’ll be stoked to play around in here. Today is going to be nice and sunny which will be perfect for a long session in the Red Bull Plaza or the Scene. Then you can hit up a little Après Ski at the Beach Bar; there’s always a party there. We’re having a lot of fun right now, but it ain’t the same without you. Come treat yourself to the most runs, lifts, and park features in Southern California; you deserve it : )
