Snow Summit and Bear Mountain have nearly 438 rideable acres, full width runs, over 130 park features and plenty of snow; in fact we have more snow in Big Bear than just about anywhere else AND we made more snow last night!

The weather is amazing up here with cool days and clear blue skies. Join us today for good times at The People’s Park.

Note: Holiday rates are in effect Saturday through Monday. Night Session at Snow Summit is scheduled for tonight, Saturday and Sunday night this MLK weekend.

We have lots going on right now. As you know, the Red Bull Plaza is up and running with 13 jibs that could be hit hundreds of different ways. There’s been crews up there hiking and getting stuff done all weekend. Chris Bradshaw and friends can be spotted there at almost anytime. We also have the Scene set up and waiting for you, and there is something in there for everyone. Beginner or expert, you’ll be stoked to play around in here. Today is going to be nice and sunny which will be perfect for a long session in the Red Bull Plaza or the Scene. Then you can hit up a little Après Ski at the Beach Bar; there’s always a party there. We’re having a lot of fun right now, but it ain’t the same without you. Come treat yourself to the most runs, lifts, and park features in Southern California; you deserve it : )

Red Bull Plaza Grand Opening

Red Bull Plaza opens today! You have to check it out, but if you can’t make it today, check back later for a bunch of pictures. We also have Rip Cord opening today along with the standard halfpipe right under Chair 9. Tomorrow, The Scene will be up at the bottom of Chair 5. You can watch Park Staff build it this afternoon while you’re taking a break at the Beach Bar.

Red Bull Plaza Tomorrow

Tonight marks the unofficial opening of the Red Bull Plaza. There will be a private film shoot with Red Bull’s Forest Bailey along with other pro shreds LNP and Chris Bradshaw. These guys will be testing out the set-up and producing a video for your viewing pleasure. Each rider possesses their own unique style that is going to make this video one of Bear’s most elite videos of all time.

The Red Bull Plaza will be open to the public the following day, which is tomorrow! We can’t wait for you all to come check this out and see your reaction. It is going to be insane, but if this doesn’t sound like you, no need to worry. We also have the Skill Builder Park going on Learning Curve and AmusementPark. There are some little roller jumps and some ride-on boxes that are perfect for learning.

Park Up-Date

New features! The park has seen some changes the last few days and things are looking pretty clean. A lot of people are claiming the jump on the top of 9 is the best it’s ever been. If you’re in the jumping mood, we also added a two pack on Lower Park Run; these are fun and good for anyone trying to master the art of jumping. Powder Bowl got some love with a small hip and the longer dog house right below. The Gulch got a QP/Hip right under the lift and a little ways down is another new Quarter Pipe. We also added some rollers and a small road gap on Lower Park.

There are plenty of features for all abilities now, especially on Learning Curve and Amusement Park where we have Skill Builder Features. The snow conditions are great with mostly packed powder runs. Have fun friends and happy shredding!

Red Bull Plaza Open at Week’s End.

The Red Bull Plaza will be open to the public at week’s end. We’ve had the James Haunt crew working on the art work the last couple days and it’s really starting to look like a real plaza. The Jersey barriers are the feature being painted below.

New today at Bear is Chair 4! Exhibition and Amusement Park are now open, and Showtime and Hidden Valley are opening tomorrow. We’ve also been working on Park Run and the Skill Builder Park the past couple of nights so by this weekend, Bear Mountain is going to be insane; and you can quote us on that one.

We have 16 available lifts between Bear Mountain and Snow Summit and the most open terrain in So Cal! Check out the trail map for open runs.

Red Bull Plaza Coming Soon…

New to Bear Mountain this year is the Red Bull Plaza. This urban oasis offers street inspired features in the flow of a park setting. Stair sets, Jersey barriers, kinked walls, and marble ledges are a few of the jibs to be included in the Red Bull Plaza, with the focus being on the features premiered at HDHR 2011. Secluded off Park Run and into the Street Scene, the Red Bull Plaza is going to be the place to be. Hike your favorite and just kick it with the homies, no pressure here, just the wholesome vibe of what a snowboard session is all about.

But for now, the snow is stacking up; 6 inches of new snow and counting! We also have our snow guns on. It’s really white up there : ) See you this weekend!

More Runs Open Today

Welcome to the best snow in Southern California! Our last storm left us with 14-16 inches of fresh snow and excellent snowmaking conditions. We got so much snow that we can open more runs today! Chair 5/Central Park and Chair 6 accessing Easy Street and Learning Curve for beginners are open today with amazing packed powder conditions. The Jib Pipe on Chair 5 is open and ready for jibbing! You will also find some changes on Chair 9/Park Run with many more to come over these next few days. It’s going to be a sunny SoCal day with a high of 29 and the cool temps will keep the snow powdery all day long. Don’t have too much fun today, we still have the entire season ahead of us ; )

14-16 Inches Of Fresh Powder

Yesterday’s storm sat over us all day yesterday and all night long too leaving a total of 14-16 inches of new snow! On top of all of that, we have been making snow around the clock. Both Bear Mountain and Snow Summit expect to open more runs for the weekend and more jibs installations are in the works. Come on up and enjoy the packed powder snow conditions.
