Big news! We expect to have both the resorts nearly 100% open by….. tomorrow!! Yep, Geronimo will be waiting for you; we hope you can make it. We’ve also been undergoing nightly changes to the park including the Skill Builder Park, Central Park, and Park Run.

With the holiday season coming up and having So Cal’s best skiing and riding conditions, we recommend planning your trip and reserving your tickets online HERE. This is the year to be a So Cal snow ethusiast, so take advantage of it! We love taking pics and showing them off, but it’s the experience that we want to share; so come on up and have some fun, you earned this.

Red Bull Plaza Coming Soon…

New to Bear Mountain this year is the Red Bull Plaza. This urban oasis offers street inspired features in the flow of a park setting. Stair sets, Jersey barriers, kinked walls, and marble ledges are a few of the jibs to be included in the Red Bull Plaza, with the focus being on the features premiered at HDHR 2011. Secluded off Park Run and into the Street Scene, the Red Bull Plaza is going to be the place to be. Hike your favorite and just kick it with the homies, no pressure here, just the wholesome vibe of what a snowboard session is all about.

But for now, the snow is stacking up; 6 inches of new snow and counting! We also have our snow guns on. It’s really white up there : ) See you this weekend!

Park Up-Date 11/10

TOP to BOTTOM opening week; there is your up-date! Just kidding, but that is our favorite part. Hitting jibs is fun, but hitting jibs the entire run is way more fun. We have 22 jibs and 10 snow features right now and they are not your typical opening week features. We have 7 down rails set up perfect skate style, a bunch of kickers that will get you up there, and a list of of other jibs that you will just have to come and see. Everyone seems to be real stoked on all the down rails right now. There are so many of them that you can learn a trick every run. The flow is on point as well. There are plenty of jibs, but there is also some good cruisn’ room which is perfect for getting your feet back. We will also have Chair 7 and Inspiration opening tomorrow for all our eager beginners. It’s go time now my friends! If you’re not here now, you’re missing out!

Tomorrow, Tomorrow! It’s Only A Day Away…

Yep, Opening Day is tomorrow my friends! We can finally put the summer behind us and prepare ourselves for the best season our lives! We’re up here feeling like a bunch of little kids on Christmas Eve; just waiting for the clock to strike the A.M. It’s going to be hard to sleep tonight, but Park Staff sure won’t have that problem because they don’t get to sleep tonight. They will be up all night building features and setting jibs. Tomorrow, when you get here at 8:30, we will have a TOP to BOTTOM park waiting for you to shred.

It’s hard to believe because it came so quick, but tomorrow is the day! We look forward to seeing all your smiling faces again and we cannot wait to get you back in The People’s Park!

Bear Is Open Today

This is what we’ve ALLLLL been waiting for, right?! 5 feet of fresh snow in just a week’s time and blue bird over the weekend! Bear will be insane today with all the tree runs, and powder and machine groomed powder you can handle. Can you tell we’re excited? You should be too. This weekend will be some of THE BEST riding. Take your time getting here because seriously, the pay off is HUGE!!!

Road Conditions are as follows:
Hwy 38 from Redlands is closed
Hwy 330/18 from San Bernardino is closed
Hwy 18 from Lucerne Valley is temporarily closed with the exception of Big Bear Valley residents only with a valid ID.

Chains are required on all vehicles including all-wheel and 4-wheel drives with snow tires.
Road closures and chain requirements are in a constant state of change.

Bear’s Open Status For Friday 1/22/2010

Due to intermittent power outages in the city, Bear Mountain will not open today. Snow Summit has it’s own power plant and intends to be open today. All season passes including “Bear Only” Season passes will be valid at Snow Summit. Night session at Snow Summit is cancelled. Snow Summit will close today at 4:00 p.m. Powder totals this week are more than four feet and counting! Hwy 330/18 from San Bernardino and Hwy 38 are closed. Please use alternate route Hwy 18 from Lucerne Valley. Chains are required on all vehicles including four-wheel and all-wheel drives. Road closures and chain requirements are in a constant state of change.

Time to Cruise

We had quite a weekend up here last Saturday and Sunday and next weekend is sure to be exciting too. Bear will host the Burton Am series contests Sunday and Monday. This is a solid contest that allows AM riders to earn a little extra cash flow and a spot in the US Open! There will definitely be some heavy heads coming for this one, so make sure you check it out. Bear is holding it down this year with the events. This platform gives the riders an opportunity to showcase their skills and spectators are sure to love it! As for now… Let’s just cruise. The park is in proper condition and you couldn’t ask for a better midweek environment. Get out there and do some soul shredding!

Come celebrate the holidays So. Cal. style. It looks like the forecast is holding up for us through the weekend and the snow is excellent! All runs are open at both resorts, so after a day at The Park, head to Westridge and ZZYZX at Snow Summit for Night Session from 3pm to 9:30pm. We recommend making reservations for this Holiday week to guarantee your place on the snow. Call the reservations service at least one day in advance at 909-866-5766

Come Get Your Black Diamonds On! That’s right, So. Cal’s favorite Black Diamond Runs, Geronimo, The Wall and Olympic are now open! This weekends forecast could not be brighter with beautiful sunny skies all throughout the weekend. Our park staff is keeping it fresh with new surprises appearing all over the mountain. The Half pipe is now open, and the Mini pipe on Amusement Park is open. Big Bear Mountain Resorts has all lifts available, almost all runs open and more than 143 park features, all with just one area use ticket.

Word around here is that Geronimo could open as early as Thursday so pack up your car and head for the steeps tomorrow! More good news is that Park Staff has been reshaping The Park the last couple of days and nights and a few features have been added bringing the feature count to over 100 with new jib lines all over. The snow is in great shape with a machine groomed packed powder surface and the temps today are in the 50′s so come on up and have fun in the sun this week! All roads into Big Bear are open with no chain requirements. See you up here.
