The Clock is Ticking

It’s cool as ever at Bear Mountain

Those strong, hot winds you might be feeling? Not here! Bear Mountain has been downright frigid. Before the Santa Ana winds heat up the LA and Orange County areas, they start as cold air in the mountains. The cool dry air is perfect for snowmaking and we’re busy taking advantage of these great conditions. We’ve been grinding out fresh snow since last night and we are still planning to open Chair 1 on Friday. What better way to beat the turkey hangover than a weekend of snowboarding? Completely Rebuilding Our Park

With over 6 days of snowmaking and a few natural snowfalls including 1 to 2 new inches overnight our conditions have drastically improved! All this new snow means we can rebuild our park. Expect big changes top-to-bottom throughout the week including a new double jump line on lower Park Run that is already open. Other new features include an up box to tank tap, an all new massive quarterpipe wall, and new jibs everywhere. Basically, the People’s Park is the best it has been all year! It’s About Time!

It’s hard to believe the first storm of the season hit us yesterday and only brought us 2 inches! We have been lucky in many ways and have remained nearly unaffected by the snow drought. Sure we’d lovvveeee more snow (pow turns and tree riding? Yes, please) but our snowmaking and park crew have been killing it when it comes to keeping the coverage in the park good and the features on point. This recent snowstorm brought us only a few inches but it sure has been enough to really amp up the coverage to midwinter conditions and brought with []
