First Time This Season…Bear Ski and Snowboard School Opens

Yesterday we sold out! A bunch of you got here early this morning and caught us in the act of making real snow. It started out as a frosty morning, but the sun is now out. Great day to open the Bear Ski and Snowboard School for the first time this season. BAM! We are now offering Lessons with our professional instructors so you can improve your style on the slopes! When you get here, expect to see 21 “Bear Built” features to keep you focused. The Park Staff got busy with a new dog house feature at Marion’s Tree. They’re calling []

Good news, everyone!

Locally-produced Ben’s Weather is calling for snow this weekend! Should be a great kickoff to the weekend. Bear is still planning to open for daily operations on Friday, Dec. 12. Right now the plan is to have Chair 1 open to start, and more as conditions improve. In the meantime, use your Bear Only pass at Summit this week. We just confirmed that they brought 6 skill-builder features back to Miracle Mile. Mammoth Mountain got top-to-bottom open last weekend. Now is a great time to upgrade to the 4-resort Cali4nia Pass. Details about this year’s New Year’s Eve party are []

One More Day

Today is the last day of our season opener. We had a great weekend so far, let’s do it up right today. We even got to make snow last night! Riders are enjoying a solid 10-24″ base of machine-groomed, hard-packed powder. The cold weather means conditions will stay consistent throughout the day. The #BearOpens photo contest is still going on. Keep tagging your photos #BearOpens for a chance to win one of our swag bags. We’ve been having a great time going through the photos so far, it looks like you guys are really digging our “Bear Built” terrain. []

It’s cool as ever at Bear Mountain

Those strong, hot winds you might be feeling? Not here! Bear Mountain has been downright frigid. Before the Santa Ana winds heat up the LA and Orange County areas, they start as cold air in the mountains. The cool dry air is perfect for snowmaking and we’re busy taking advantage of these great conditions. We’ve been grinding out fresh snow since last night and we are still planning to open Chair 1 on Friday. What better way to beat the turkey hangover than a weekend of snowboarding? Since you’re so stoked about all our fresh snow, we have special discounted rates []
