Steeps & Canyons
We may be The People’s Park, but even us jibbers know a good powder day is worth leaving park features for a little while.
Missing a powder day is not an option, which is why Bear Mountain shares nearly 1,700 vertical feet with skiers and snowboarders who are after first tracks.
Silver Mountain is home to three popular advanced runs and also provides access to Deer and Goldmine canyons. Geronimo is the highest, steepest and most challenging lift-served peak in Southern California. We know you want to challenge yourself, but experts only please! Geronimo can be accessed by taking our High-Speed Quad Access Express and looping around to chair #8.
On a Big Bear powder day, locals know where to go. With over 550 acres of undeveloped canyon terrain, Bear Mountain is the place to be when the flakes start falling. Deer, Goldmine and Bow Canyons serve up some of the best tree skiing and inbounds resort riding in Southern California. Knowing powder hounds will be hungry for more, check out additional acres of backcountry by way of Bear’s resort boundaries, after checking in with Mountain Patrol for safety tips and to alert them of your whereabouts of course.
Going off designated runs can be dangerous. These areas are not patrolled or maintained. Go at your own risk.
